Your data, in plain words
No adverts, no reselling, no tracking. Only what's strictly needed to make the lists work.
This is a translation for convenience; the French version is the legal reference. Read the French version (Lire la version française)
What we keep
- Your account: first name, e-mail address, password (never in clear text, only a fingerprint of it is kept), date of sign-up and last log-in, and your display choice. If you give them: your surname, and your date of birth, which is only used to remind you to create your birthday wish list (nobody else sees it).
- Your delivery address, if you choose to give it: it is only shown to the person who reserves a gift you have asked to have sent to you. You can erase it whenever you like in My account.
- The lists: what you and your family and friends write in them (people, ideas, links, prices, reduced photos of the gifts, reservations).
- Security: fingerprints of log-in attempts, to block attacks.
- Notifications, if you turn them on: the notification address your browser gives us for this device (kept until you turn them off), and the text of the notifications (“Marc added a wish…”), kept for 30 days. The message is sent without content to your browser's notification service: it cannot see the text.
- Visit statistics: the day, the pages viewed and their time, the site or link you came from, the type of device, the system and browser, the language, the screen size and the time zone (from which the country is roughly deduced). The visitor is only a randomly generated fingerprint: no IP address, no extra cookie, no outside tool.
- Bug reports: your message, the page concerned, the type of device, and your account or the e-mail address you choose to leave.
Why, and on what legal basis
- Making the service work (performance of the service you ask for when you create an account): identifying you, showing each person what they are allowed to see, sending invitations and the “forgotten password” link.
- Protecting accounts and knowing whether the site is being used (legitimate interest): limiting log-in attempts, internal and anonymous visit statistics.
How long
- Account, lists, ideas, reservations: as long as your account exists. Deleting your account erases them straight away.
- Log-in attempts: 2 days. “Forgotten password” links: 1 hour. Remembered log-in: 60 days.
- Visit statistics: 13 months. Bug reports: 1 year after they are resolved.
- E-mail address invited to a list: until the person signs up, 90 days at most. It is only used to help them find the list when they create their account.
Cookies
Only two, both essential: one keeps you logged in during your visit, the other keeps you logged in for 60 days on your device if you chose that. There are no advertising or audience-measurement cookies: that is why there is nothing to accept.
Who sees what
Only the members of a list can see it. What is reserved for you and the surprise ideas added to your list stay hidden from you. If you reserve by “hiding your name”, the others only see “Reserved”. Children do not have accounts (you must be 15 or over): their lists are kept by a parent.
When you paste a product link, the je l'offre server reads the shop's page to find the price and the photo: the shop sees the server, not you.
Where
With the host OVHcloud (OVH SAS, 2 rue Kellermann, 59100 Roubaix), in France. No data leaves the European Union.
